To hang bird house:

(Fig 1)

- Open cardboard sleeve - remove finial, and rope with roof clip.

- Unscrew wing nut and remove roof, threaded rod and hex nuts.

- Roof clip is already on the rope but it's IMPORTANT to make sure that the pointed end of the roof clip is pointed upwards when installing the rope.

- Feed end of rope through hole in rope guide and pull back up and out as shown.

- Tie a knot at the bottom end of rope and pull rope up by the other end until it stops at the knot.

- Feed top end of rope through roof and finial.

To post-mount bird house:

(Fig 2)

- Open cardboard sleeve - remove finial, and rope with roof clip. [NOTE: with post-mounting, the rope and roof clip are not used.]

- Unscrew wing nut and remove roof.

- Place on a 4"x4" wooden post [TIP: we recommend drilling a small hole in the post and bottom of house to make the next step easier].

- Using a long-handled screwdriver, drive a flathead wood screw (#8 recommended) through the indentation in the middle of the house base, into the post below.

- Replace roof and screw on finial.

- Slide roof up on rope; hold in place with one hand.

- Slide roof clip upwards along rope.

- Lower roof to the roof clip which will lock roof into place.

- Now you can use both hands to clean inside house.

- When you're ready to return roof to its normal position, just lift the roof and slide roof clip down.

Using Hole Inserts:

This optional feature allows you to change the hole opening size to attract different types of birds.

- Remove 2 inserts from cardboard sleeve; select the size that is right for your area. [NOTE: One is slightly larger than the other for attracting smaller birds.]

- Simply snap insert into the hole from the front side until it locks into place.
